Microneedling for hairloss
Hair restoration wih microneedling
Microneedling is a technique which makes use of an instrument with multiple fine medical grade microneedles each measuring 1.5 mm long. By creating micro wounds in the skin growth factors are released which stimulate hair follicles.
While often used as an anti-aging skin treatment, microneedling is also a method of treatment for hair loss. There’s even evidence that it can help a special type of hair loss known as alopecia areata. The same process of creating wounds in the skin is also thought to regenerate the health of the hair follicles.
It is a simpler procedure as compared to PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) treatment which takes longer procedure time and is more painful. For patients concerned about side effects from finasteride or minoxidil this is a safe alternative treatment or provides excellent synergy when combined.
Most of the scientific studies on Microneedling have been done on patients with male pattern and female pattern baldness. In our experience it works well even on Chronic Telogen effluvium.

-
Increases blood circulation to hair follicles.
-
Topical treatments such as minoxidil penetrates better through channels created by microneedles
Microneedling can cause mild discomfort, but it is very tolerable.
We generally follow the below protocol-
Once a week X 6 sessions followed by
Once in 3 weeks X 4 sessions
This allows the body enough time to heal between treatment sessions.
Patients usually find significant reduction in hair fall after 3-4 sittings. Visible results might take longer. Treatment for 10 weeks is recommended.
